On 15-16 September 2016 at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Stratford (UK), the Phages vs AMR meeting brought together 58 synthetic biologists, phage experts and microbiologists from far flung corners to explore these questions and more. From clinical use of phages in Poland, to phage-containing hand
sanitiser in Israel, bacterial viruses are seeing a global renaissance as alternatives to antibiotics. The conference was hired by Professor Alfonso Jaramillo. The conference was funded by the EU-funded EVOPROG consortium “General-Purpose Programmable Evolution Machine on a Chip” and the INTEGRATE AM “Integrating Expertise Across Disciplines to Tackle Antimicrobial Resistance” grants.
